POSITION SUMMARY The Communications, Development and Strategic Initiatives Specialist supports the Director of Growth, Outreach and Strategic Initiatives with fundraising activities, donor relations, communications, and special projects. The role provides direct administrative support to the Director and limited administrative support to the Executive Director. The Specialist also assists the Director with research, coordination, and communication needs for strategic initiatives as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Experience in communications, fundraising, or development preferred.
Skills: Strong writing, organizational, and project coordination skills. Basic design ability and familiarity with website and social media tools. Demonstrated ability to multitask, take initiative, and work independently as a self-starter. Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Fundraising and Donor Relations
- Assist with annual fundraising activities, campaigns, and events.
- Maintain donor records and prepare acknowledgments and donor communications.
- Conduct prospect research and assist with sponsorship outreach.
- Produce fundraising analytics, dashboards, and reports.
Communications and Marketing
- Manage website updates and routine content maintenance.
- Coordinate social media content and organizational announcements.
- Draft and design newsletters, print materials, and promotional assets.
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging.
Advocacy and Public Outreach
- Support the Director with outreach tasks, meeting preparation, and advocacy-related materials.
- Track activities and assist with the development of public-facing documents.
Strategic Initiatives Support
- Provide support to the Director on special projects and organizational initiatives.
- Conduct research, prepare summaries and presentations, and track project timelines.
Administrative Support
- Provide direct administrative support to the Director, including scheduling, document preparation, and meeting coordination.
- Provide targeted administrative support to the Executive Director.
- Assist with vendor coordination and maintaining organized project files.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel between CSAAC sites and participate in on-site observations.
- Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients in person and on the phone.
- Ability to move office supplies or equipment weighing up to ten pounds.
