Overview

Are you ready to launch your human resource (HR) career with a 12‑month training program designed to grow your administrative skills and deepen your understanding of Commonwealth hiring processes? As an Administration and Management Trainee, you will work side‑by‑side with experienced HR professionals, gaining hands‑on experience that will prepare you for a future role as a permanent Human Resource Analyst 1.

Responsibilities

Develop a thorough understanding of Commonwealth hiring processes and procedures for both Civil Service and Non‑Civil Service positions. Review requisitions and post details to move candidates onto referral lists in NEOGOV. Determine if additional steps are required, such as creating and running filters, applying veterans' preference, or including a seniority report, so the agency receives a complete candidate list for consideration.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

  • Full‑time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch
  • Telework: part‑time telework may be available up to three days per week. In‑office days are held in the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Telework requires a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and an approved Pennsylvania‑based location. Telework availability may change.
  • Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field

Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Other Requirements

  • Meet the Pennsylvania residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions

Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS)

  • TRS number 711 for hearing and speech disabilities or other individuals
