Job Description

## About the Role

As a Software Engineer II at Columbia Sportswear Company, you'll design, develop, test, deploy, monitor, and support software solutions that power our global operations. You'll play a critical role in ensuring quality, security, privacy, reliability, availability, maintainability, performance, compatibility and integrations throughout our platform solutions. Working within a single squad, you'll advance the team's technical foundation to deliver modern, simple, and secure solutions while helping raise engineering skills across your team.

## What You'll Do

You'll own the full lifecycle of platform and application development—from design through deployment, maintenance, and ongoing support. Your day-to-day work includes maintaining thoughtful application design, building subject matter expertise in your business area, and contributing meaningfully to your team's backlog. You'll partner closely with teammates and your Product Owner to break down work into reasonable, achievable sizes for each iteration, ensuring stories have clearly understood value and well-defined acceptance criteria.

Your technical contributions matter: you'll participate in peer code reviews, troubleshoot and fix bugs, identify security risks, and work to eliminate performance bottlenecks. You'll participate actively in agile ceremonies—daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, planning, reviews, demos, and retrospectives—while helping drive collaboration through practices like pair programming. You're expected to help inform delivery estimates, understand prioritization and sequencing decisions, identify key dependencies, and influence the product roadmap alongside your team.

You'll leverage automation wherever possible, ensure application performance and uptime at scale, and employ Dev. Ops practices to advance your solutions' technical foundation. As someone who embraces continuous improvement, you'll start exploring new technologies and ways of software delivery, assist with proof-of-concepts to experiment with innovative ideas, and contribute to improving the overall software development lifecycle. You'll also participate in peer mentoring and maintain support playbooks to ensure operational excellence.

## What We're Looking For

You'll need a Bachelor's degree, an applicable certification, or equivalent professional experience. Typically, this role requires 2-4 years of professional experience and general proficiency with the tools, systems, and procedures needed to accomplish the work.

On the technical side, you must have experience coding in one of these languages: Python, Scala, SQL, or Power. Shell. You'll need exposure to data services in a cloud computing platform, a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software development tools, and solid coding proficiency in a modern programming or scripting language. Knowledge of database systems, particularly SQL, is essential.

We're looking for someone with a genuine ability to grasp new technologies rapidly, break down data issues and resolve them effectively. Azure experience is strongly preferred, especially with Logic and Function apps. Experience with Data Catalogs, business glossaries, data governance, and metadata management is also preferred.

Beyond technical skills, you'll bring strong project and time management abilities. You're comfortable working and collaborating with cross-functional teams, and you have excellent communication skills—both written and oral. You have solid technical judgment, good decision-making instincts, and an appropriate sense of urgency about delivery.

Exposure to wholesale and/or retail solutions is a nice-to-have, but not required. You're someone who can participate and contribute meaningfully in a team environment, working effectively with users at all levels to identify requirements and deliver timely results.

## Work Environment & Logistics

This is a standard hours, full-time position based in our India Office. You'll work in a typical office environment where you'll routinely use computers and standard office equipment. The work is generally sedentary, though you may occasionally need to move about or adjust items. No travel is required for this role.

Collaboration is a constant—you'll be communicating regularly with colleagues to exchange information and ensure processes run smoothly. Collaboration is generally conducted in person unless the role has been pre-approved for remote work.
