What You Will Do

1. Ward-Level IEC/BCC Execution

• Implement IEC/BCC communication strategies across 4–5 assigned wards, aligned with SBM city-level plans
• Translate higher-level communication strategies into clear, relatable, and persuasive messaging suited to local audiences
• Conduct structured door-to-door outreach, group awareness sessions, and community drives with a behaviour-change focus — not just information delivery
• Identify the specific behavioural barriers in your wards — why are citizens not segregating, not complying, not engaging — and communicate accordingly
• Ensure every interaction on ground is purposeful: mobilizers under your coordination must persuade, not just inform

2. Campaign & Field Coordination

• Support and execute ward-level and zone-level campaigns across key SBM priorities:

◦ Source segregation and daily collection compliance

◦ Plastic waste reduction and ban awareness

◦ Zero waste events and Garbage Free City (GFC) drives

◦ Cleanliness and public space campaigns

• Coordinate with field teams, NGO partners, and municipal staff to ensure consistent, high-quality on-ground execution
• Organise and lead community events, school environmental programs, market outreach, and public engagement activities
• Track participation, coverage, and quality of execution ward-by-ward and report accurately upward

3. Community Engagement & Behaviour Change

• Build trusted relationships with RWAs, market associations, bulk waste generators, schools, and local institutions
• Identify behavioural gaps at ward level through observation and conversation — and feed structured insights back to the Senior Lead for strategy refinement
• Engage youth, women's groups, and community champions as local advocates for environmental behaviour change
• Handle citizen resistance, confusion, and misinformation with empathy and evidence — turning sceptics into supporters where possible
• Champion the environmental cause in every community interaction — connecting individual actions to a cleaner, healthier city

4. Communication & Content Support

• Develop field-ready communication tools — scripts, talking points, visual messaging — tailored for local ward audiences
• Support content creation for ward-level social media updates, local campaigns, and SBM awareness initiatives
• Assist in producing basic creative assets (with guidance) for posters, pamphlets, and digital posts
• Ensure all communication — verbal and visual — is accurate, engaging, and aligned with SBM guidelines and campaign messaging

5. Local Media & Outreach Support

• Coordinate with local media touchpoints — radio spots, cable announcements, print inserts — for ward and zone-level visibility
• Support outdoor visibility campaigns including hoardings, wall paintings, and public space activations
• Assist in planning and executing public announcements, street plays, and flash outreach activities

6. Documentation, Reporting & Impact Records

• Maintain structured, audit-ready records of all ward-level activities:

◦ Event photographs, videos, and field summaries

◦ Attendance sheets, household coverage data, and engagement logs

◦ Daily and weekly field reports with accurate data

• Contribute to the development of case studies, success stories, and transformation narratives from your wards
• Support preparation of presentations and reports for senior stakeholders and SBM / Swachh Survekshan submissions
• Ensure all documentation is timely, organised, and reflects the quality and depth of work on ground

Who You AreExperience & Background

• Around 2 years of experience in mass communication, community outreach, social work, IEC/BCC programs, or field-based public engagement
• Experience working with communities, NGOs, government programs, or environmental initiatives is a strong advantage
• Comfortable with extensive field work — this role is 70%+ on ground

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Work, Environmental Studies, Public Health, or a related field

Language

• Fluency in Gujarati — mandatory for community engagement and field communication
• Working knowledge of Hindi and English for reporting and coordination
