About the opportunity:

The Infrastructure Engineer is a professional engineering role that provides technical and strategic support to the Utilities, Roads, and Parks divisions within the Civic Operations Department. The position focuses on planning, designing, and managing the City's water, sanitary, and stormwater systems, while supporting related capital, maintenance, and operational programs. Working under the direction of the City Engineer and in collaboration with the Development Engineer, the Infrastructure Engineer helps ensure the reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of the City's infrastructure. This role supports both daily operations and long-term infrastructure planning and requires the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams, external agencies, consultants, and the public. Performs related duties as required.

About your background:

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline and be registered, or eligible for registration, as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC. A Project Management certification (CMP or PMP) is considered an asset. Candidates should bring a minimum of five years of progressive experience in municipal infrastructure design, construction, and operations, including two to three years of project management experience involving budgeting and scheduling. Supervisory experience is considered an asset. The successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the City's leadership competencies, including Innovation, Strategy, Persuasion, Communication, Delegation, Achievement, Cooperation, and Empathy. A strong understanding of municipal engineering and public works operations, infrastructure design and asset management, municipal bylaws, and MMCD and CCDC contract documents is required. Experience with budgeting, estimating, and costing for municipal projects is expected, along with proficiency in engineering and modeling software such as Civil 3D, GIS, and hydraulic modeling tools. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with minimal supervision is essential. You have a valid Class 5 BC driver's license (or out-of-province equivalent). A Police Information Check for offences related to the position is required.
