Job Type: Full-time, Out of Scope Pay: $68,000.00 – $91,000.00 per year
The City of Flin Flon’s Utility Supervisor provides leadership and direction in the planning, development, and implementation of the City’s utilities operations. The role oversees the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and pump houses, and is responsible for managing all associated staff.

Duties
- Managing, leading, and developing staff, promotes a positive, productive, and safe work environment.
- Developing and implementing strategies, procedures, and practices for the operation, maintenance, and repair of water delivery systems.
- Compiling all test data, records and reports required by local, provincial, federal, or other governing Coordinating and participating in emergency response rotations and after hours call outs as required.
- Adjusting treatment systems, distribution systems, and collection systems as required to maintain Ensuring appropriate levels of chemical inventory at all times.
- Ensuring compliance with all Workplace Safety and Health regulations and policies of The City of Flin Flon, including training of subordinates.
Qualifications
- 5th Class Power Engineer Certification issued by the Department of Labour.
- A minimum of two years post-secondary education in Civil Engineering, Water or Environmental Studies or related field.
- Minimum of four years’ experience managing a Water Treatment Plant
- Willing and able to obtain the following certifications based on the timelines outlined by the Province of Manitoba:
- Class Ill Water Treatment Certification
- Class II Water Distribution Certification

- The ability to carry out duties alone and with minimal or no supervision.
- Ability to complete accurate, legible calculations and reports relative to the work performed and readings taken.
- A valid and current Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of Manitoba, or equivalent, is required.
- Ability to understand and exercise informed judgment about matters affecting the City’s entire water and wastewater system. As well, the Operator should have the ability to interpret data, and maintain an efficient operation while meeting the criteria as required by the City’s licenses.
