Job Purpose & Responsibilities

This is a permanent, full-time position with the Corporate Services Department.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, with a focus on the City of Cold Lake Safety program, this position is responsible for:

  • Updating safety forms, policies, the safety manual and Safety Library
  • Developing new safety materials and resources
  • Faciliating the Safety Incentive Program and Safety Week
  • Scheduling and tracking safety training courses
  • Managing incident report tracking
  • Back up for the Safety Advisor when necessary
  • Conducting new hire orientations and assisting with new employee onboarding
  • Maintaining employee files
  • Interpreting and monitoring the collective agreement rules and regulations regarding policies and issues as it pertains to safety
  • Identifying potential gaps in current HR policies and procedures
  • Researching related to collective agreements, legislation, and other projects as required

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Post-secondary diploma in Human Resources
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a Municipality or Government setting
  • Knowledge of the Alberta Employment Standards Code, and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Strong interest in Safety
  • Strong computer and organizational skills
  • Ability to present to small and large groups
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Valid class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check

More Details

This position is Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for 35 hours per week.
