Job Description
As a Supervisor for the Not-for-Profit (NFP) accounting operations, your role will involve supporting and overseeing accounting operations for NFP clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing various accounting functions on US clients' files such as posting and reconciling Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, Bank and Credit Card transactions, Payroll, and general Journal entries.
- Preparing workpapers, accounting schedules, and extracting and preparing various management reports based on clients' needs.
- Taking the lead on projects like accounting clean-up, books rebuild, software migration, and account adjustments as required.
- Reviewing the work of Staff and providing constructive feedback.
- Learning new software and developing current technological skills required for accounting and financial reporting.
- Allocating work based on staff availability and competency.
- Helping staff up-skill themselves through proper guidance.
- Adhering to deadlines of the assigned tasks and keeping the reviewer updated on the progress.
- Self-reviewing work for accuracy and completeness to ensure a quality product before submission to the reviewer/manager.
- Preparation of SOP for the assigned tasks and updating the same regularly.
- Adhering to internal policies, procedures, and controls.
- Working with both India-based and US-based staff to collaborate on performing transactional activities, technical accounting activities, and reporting activities.
Qualifications required for this role:
- CA Inter/CMA/MBA Fin/Chartered Accountant/CPA with 3+ years of experience OR Masters with 6+ years of experience in accounting, specifically in US accounting.
- Applying GAAP for Not-for-Profit entities (ASC 958), revenue recognition (ASC 958-605 & ASC 606), and net asset classifications.
- Experience in Grant reporting and compliance, Non-profit audit support, Revenue recognition, Payroll processing, Month-end close & financial reporting.
- Knowledge of Donations, grants, memberships, funding types, restricted vs unrestricted revenue.
- Strong conceptual accounting knowledge with sound ability in GAAP for NFP, revenue types, functional expense allocations.
- Ensuring compliance with donor requirements, payroll processing, and internal controls.
- Proficiency in software/applications like Excel, Word, QBO, Xero, SAGE, NetSuite, MS Teams, Zoom etc.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Self-starter, highly collaborative, creative, outgoing, and possessing strong financial analysis, modeling, and valuation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written business communication skills.
- Exposure to direct client communication and handling.
Additionally, you are expected to comply with Firm/BPO department policies, use downtime effectively, comply with Firm's CPE requirement, and demonstrate good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
