Job Summary
CIMT College is looking for an instructor to teach the Paralegal Program, a program registered with the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. The successful candidate will follow CIMT College’s policies, procedures, and instructor manuals to train students and prepare them for employment in the field.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the field.
- Instruct the curriculum using only pre-authorized materials.
- Teach using a systematic plan of lectures, presentations, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, case studies, and projects.
- Employ adult teaching strategies appropriate for diverse learners.
- Administer and mark quizzes, assignments, exams, and other assessments to monitor student progress.
- Evaluate student performance fairly, consistently, and promptly.
- Provide constructive feedback on student performance.
- Collect end-of-course feedback from students about the instructor, content, and facility.
- Show sensitivity to student needs in a multicultural environment.
- Resolve student complaints and concerns professionally.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Maintain classroom order and protect equipment and resources.
- Support the admissions team with prospective students.
- Participate in scheduled meetings and annual events such as graduation.
- Maintain confidentiality of student privacy and information.
- Stay current in subject matter through professional development.
- Demonstrate teamwork and problem‑solving skills.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Skills Required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems.
- Excellent oral and written communication to convey information clearly and adapt to varied learning styles.
- Professional business attire and interpersonal skills to act as a mentor and role model.
Qualifications
- Lawyer or licensed paralegal in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario with at least 3 years of working experience (except for non‑substantive law courses).
- At least one year of teaching experience or formal training in education resulting in a degree, diploma or certificate .
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree from a Canadian university or an equivalent degree.
- Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent.
- Graduate of a registered Ontario College of Certified Professionals (OCC) or equivalent.
- Teaching of Adults certificate an asset.
- Meet instructor qualification standards as outlined in the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005.
- Must be available to teach on campus as per the accepted schedule .
Working Hours
Mon to Fri 9:30 am – 1:30 pm or 5 pm – 9 pm; maximum 20 hours per week.
Compensation
Base Pay Rate: CAD $25 / hr – $30 / hr.
