About Us

Chesapeake Classic Restorations is a rapidly growing classic vehicle restoration shop based on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. We are looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Automotive Technician to join our restoration team.

This role goes beyond basic maintenance. The right candidate should be comfortable diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining classic vehicles while working in a shop environment focused on craftsmanship, quality, and long-term restoration work.

Position Summary

The Experienced Classic Automotive Technician will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining classic vehicles as part of larger restoration and repair projects. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge, problem-solving ability, and the ability to work both independently and alongside a skilled restoration team.

This is a full-time, hourly, in-person position.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive systems including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, electrical systems, fuel systems, and cooling systems.
• Perform maintenance and repair work on classic vehicles, including oil changes, fluid service, tune-ups, alignments, component replacement, and general mechanical repairs.
• Inspect vehicles to identify mechanical issues, safety concerns, wear, leaks, improper previous repairs, and restoration-related needs.
• Read and interpret schematics, service information, and diagnostic findings to complete repairs accurately.
• Use automotive diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Work with the restoration team to support full builds, partial restorations, mechanical repairs, assembly, and final quality checks.
• Communicate clearly with team members about repair needs, parts requirements, project status, and potential concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
• Uphold Chesapeake Classic Restorations’ standards for quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Previous professional experience as an Automotive Technician, Mechanic, Restoration Technician, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of automotive mechanical systems, especially engines, brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrain, and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical issues accurately and complete repairs efficiently.
• Comfortable working on older vehicles where parts, systems, and previous repairs may vary from modern standards.
• Experience with classic cars, hot rods, muscle cars, antique vehicles, or restoration work is strongly preferred.
• Ability to use schematics, diagnostic tools, hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work in a team-focused shop environment.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.

Pay

$25.00–$50.00 per hour, based on experience and skill level.
