Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operate grabs and clamshell equipment for loading, unloading, and transferring bulk materials (coal, scrap, sand, ore, etc.)
- Ensure safe and efficient handling of materials using cranes, excavators, or EOT cranes fitted with grabs/clamshell attachments
- Perform pre-operation inspection of equipment, including ropes, hydraulics, buckets, and safety systems
- Monitor load balance and ensure proper gripping to avoid spillage or accidents
- Coordinate with crane operators, supervisors, and ground staff for smooth operations
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for material handling and equipment usage
- Maintain optimal cycle time and productivity during loading/unloading operations
- Identify and report equipment malfunctions, wear and tear, or safety hazards
- Assist maintenance team during repair and servicing of grabs and clamshell buckets
- Ensure proper stacking, storage, and segregation of materials as per guidelines
- Adhere strictly to safety norms, PPE usage, and site regulations
- Maintain operational logs, shift reports, and material movement records
- Support housekeeping and 5S practices in the work area
- Minimize material loss, spillage, and damage during handling
