About The Opportunity
CPA Canada acts in the public interest to promote CPAs as leaders in the provision of tax services and to influence the development of an equitable, effective and efficient tax system in Canada. Reporting to the Director of Tax in CPA’s Communications & Advocacy department, the successful candidate will contribute to developing guidance and thought leadership with a goal of supporting our members today and preparing them for the future. They will be responsible for developing content for Tax360, CPA Canada’s national online community for tax professionals. The role will ensure that Tax 360 delivers valuable insights to professionals , helps them stay ahead of the curve with curated tax resources, access timely updates, expert guidance, and opportunities to influence the profession. They will also work with external subject matter experts who provide content for the platform.
Working with government to improve the tax system is a core priority To carry out these initiatives, CPA Canada has a network of volunteer tax committees which provide input into new legislation or government consultations. Part of the successful candidate’s role will be to provide support and leadership to these committees. The individual will work in close collaboration with other members of the Tax group and, where appropriate, across CPA Canada.
This hybrid role is national in scope and can be aligned to any of our CPA Canada offices or be fully remote within Canada.
The targeted annual salary range for this position is $96,201 to $128,200 and is commensurate with experience.
What You’ll Do
In this role, responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to the following:

- Maintaining an understanding of technical and business trends in Canada and globally which may impact current and future members;
- Developing thought leadership (e.g., blogs, alerts, briefings, guides, summaries, webinars, articles) aimed at helping interested parties better understand and address tax issues within Tax360 and other CPA Canada communication channels;
- Develop tools and resources to provide relevant tax updates exclusively to CPA Canada members
- Partner with the Communications team to support active engagement and meaningful participation of customers through discussions, posts, virtual events, and direct outreach.
- Actively monitor posts on Tax360 and respond accordingly or work with other subject matter experts to obtain the appropriate input.
- Monitor discussion boards to identify technically incorrect information, and identify points of clarification.
- Quality control and technical review of content provided by external subject matter experts.
- Providing Committee support by planning, preparing agendas, and supporting materials and reviewing meeting outcomes;
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with relevant external parties to enhance the profile of CPA Canada and the Canadian accounting profession;
- Working with other departments, as required, on monitoring the tax environment, implementation of new tax tools, resources or education;
- Support recruitment, training, and active engage of volunteers, community ambassadors, contributors, and other external subject matter experts.
- Support contract negotiations, including service-level agreements (SLAs), deliverables, and performance expectations, in collaboration with relevant parties, as required.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and skills:

- A CPA designation and completion of the In-Depth Tax Program;
- 5+ years of relevant business experience in Tax;
- Ability to conduct analyses and research;
- Broad exposure to income taxation with research and professional writing skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple large projects
- Knowledge of corporate and personal tax matters
- Knowledgeable about CPA practices and sufficiently adaptable and experienced to undertake various senior level tasks as required;
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Strong organizational/project management skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with senior members of the CPA profession and other external stakeholders, including government, accounting firms, other professional associations etc.;
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to respond quickly to changing demands and new issues;
