NOW HIRING: HR Specialist (Compensation) – GS-13 Office of Human Capital (OHC)
READY TO HELP ENSURE CMS EMPLOYEES ARE PAID ACCURATELY AND ON TIME?
Join CMS and serve as a key advisor on payroll, compensation, leave, and benefits issues that directly impact the employee experience. In this role, you’ll help resolve complex pay issues, guide stakeholders through payroll processes, and support the integrity of CMS payroll operations.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal advisor and first point of contact on payroll and compensation matters
- Analyze and resolve complex payroll discrepancies, including overpayments, underpayments, deductions, debt, garnishments, and time and attendance errors
- Use automated payroll and inquiry systems such as DFAS MyPay and EHCM to research and resolve payroll cases
- Provide guidance on pay and leave entitlements, including advanced leave, LWOP, donated leave, continuation of pay, retirement deductions, and benefits impacts
- Respond to audits, debts, estimates, and data calls while supporting payroll data integrity
Qualifications
Applicants must have 1 year specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, including:

- Using automated payroll and inquiry tracking systems to submit, monitor, and resolve payroll cases
