Software Engineering Specialist

About the Role

Client Chief Technology Office is seeking a Software Development Engineer (Golang) to help build next-generation software platforms supporting AI-driven, edge, and mission-critical systems.

This is a hands-on backend engineering role focused on designing, developing, deploying, and operating high-availability cloud-native services. You will work in a fast-moving, high-ownership environment building scalable systems from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend services using Go (Golang)
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• Deploy and operate production services in AWS
• Architect secure, scalable, high-performance backend applications
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring
• Integrate relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB)
• Embed security, authentication, and authorization best practices
• Use generative AI tools (e.g., Copilot, LLM-based tools) to accelerate development
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade solutions

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years of backend REST API development
• Strong hands-on experience with Go (Golang)
• Experience deploying and operating services in AWS production environments
• 3+ years working with distributed systems (microservices or serverless)
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Familiarity with generative AI development tools
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
• Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent professional experience

Nice to Have

• Active TS/SCI clearance
• AWS certifications
• Experience with automated testing frameworks
• Master’s degree

• Go experience is required. Candidates without hands-on Go development experience will not be considered.
• This role is fully onsite in McLean, VA.
• Candidates must be eligible to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
