Job Description
Community Occupational Therapist - Greater Toronto, ON
Working in communities across Ontario, the Community Rehabilitation Services team treats clients who've experienced mental stress injuries and motor vehicle accidents, focusing on a return to pre-accident function.
In the Traumatic Psychological Injury program, Occupational Therapists work with clients such as first responders who've experienced trauma in the workplace. They conduct in vivo exposure therapy and behavioural activation, facilitate trauma processing, coping, and return to function, and incorporate evidence based care such as virtual reality to promote industry leading mental health outcomes.
In the Complex Auto program, Occupational Therapists assess and treat clients presenting with various physical (musculoskeletal, orthopaedic), cognitive (TBIs, concussions), and psychosocial impairments related to motor vehicle accidents. Working in a community setting, they complete in home and hospital discharge assessments, ergonomic assessments, concussion treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, mental health treatment, and several other interventions, providing 'start to finish' care and guiding clients through every step of recovery.
Many of our OTs focus on one area of practice, while others prefer the variety offered by a mixed caseload.
Wage range: $42.00-$54.00 per hour

What you need to be successful
- Registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- A valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (travel up to 1 1.5 hours radius)
- Willingness to provide in vivo OT treatment in a variety of settings, including client's homes, workplaces, and/or in the community
- Passion about your profession, commitment to ongoing professional development, and dedication to providing excelled client care
- The ability to thrive in a self directed and independent environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong critical thinking, decision making and analytic skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Empathy and an effective ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders
- Experience in the private sector, particularly auto sector legislation and mental health, is an asset
