This role requires full time on site presence.
Your role
CBC North is seeking a multi-platform journalist to join our two-person bureau in Fort Smith, Northwest Territories (NWT). The successful candidate will be expected to research, gather, package and present news stories for radio, television and digital.
A strong candidate will have a good understanding of Fort Smith and the surrounding area and be enthusiastic about generating story ideas, building relationships with sources, and producing creative video treatments. Excellent interpersonal skills, a comfortable and dynamic on-air presence and demonstrated experience with video will be required. The ability to work independently, under the direction of our assignment producers based in Yellowknife, will also be crucial.
We are looking for a candidate with:
- A university college or diploma in journalism or an equivalent combination of industry/life experience.
- A minimum of two years in journalism or a related field.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Experience using Avis systems would be an asset.
The ability to speak a language Indigenous to the NWT would be considered a major asset.
