Nursing Student (In-Home Healthcare Assistant)

Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated Nursing Students to join our healthcare team in providing compassionate and comprehensive care to two clients in their private home. This paid position offers valuable hands-on experience in a home care setting. The ideal candidate is motivated to develop their nursing skills while supporting clients with a range of needs, including senior care and dementia care. This role provides an excellent opportunity to apply your knowledge in a real-world environment while contributing positively to the clients well-being.

Wage: $24/hour, $26/hour on weekends (Saturday and Sunday).

Weekdays and weekends as needed.

Please note: you must have access to your own transportation.

Duties

• Assist with medication administration
• Perform blood pressure and oxygen readings
• Assist with care activities such as bathing, dressing, and mobility assistance
• Help with meal preparation and feeding for clients
• Engage in activities that promote client comfort and safety, including light cleaning and sanitation of care areas
• Provide companionship and emotional support to clients, specifically those with dementia
• Assist with documentation of client observations and care provided
• Support with the transferring of clients as needed, ensuring safety procedures are followed

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a nursing program or related healthcare field
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check
• Knowledge of patient care procedures including medication administration and dementia care techniques
• Ability to work compassionately with seniors and individuals with dementia
• Strong communication skills and a caring attitude toward clients and their families
• Ability to perform and handle physically demanding tasks such as caregiving and cleaning
• Reliable, responsible, and eager to learn in a home healthcare environment
