Job Description

Senior Software Engineer II, Data Ecosystem

The Company You’ll Join

Carta connects founders, investors, and limited partners through world‑class software, purpose‑built for everyone in venture capital, private equity and private credit. Trusted by 65,000+ companies in 160+ countries, Carta’s platform of software and services lays the groundwork so you can build, invest, and scale with confidence.

Carta’s Fund Administration platform supports 9,000+ funds and SPVs, representing nearly $185B in assets under management, with tools designed to enhance the strategic impact of fund CFOs. Recognized by Fortune, Forbes, Fast Company, Inc. and Great Places to Work, Carta is shaping the future of private market infrastructure.

Together, Carta is creating the end‑to‑end ERP platform for private markets. Traditional ERP solutions don’t work for Private Funds. Private capital markets need a comprehensive software solution to replace outdated spreadsheets and fragmented service providers. Carta’s software for the Office of the Fund CFO does just that - it’s a new category of software to make private markets look more like public markets - a connected ERP for private capital.

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Senior Software Engineer II, Data Ecosystem you’ll work to:

  • Building self‑serviceable data experiences that enable customers to automate their analytical and reporting workloads.
  • Creating fault‑tolerant data pipelines (oftentimes in real‑time), collecting data across several of Carta's microservices as well as third‑party systems.
  • Drafting robust and sensible role‑based controls that enable customers to govern fractional access to their data.
  • Leveraging agentic AI technology to improve all aspects of the customer experience and our internal operational and developmental processes.
  • Mentor emerging talent, fostering their growth and development.

The Team You’ll Work With

The Data Ecosystem team is building Carta’s Customer Data Warehouse: a centralized system that stores data all across and even outside of Carta. Our team works incredibly close with engineering and product leadership, real customers including CFOs and accountants, data engineers and data scientists, and several full stack developers across all of Carta. We’re drawn to complexity, motivated by clarity, and operate with a high degree of ownership. If you thrive in greenfield domains, enjoy building clean abstractions from messy, real‑world scenarios, and want to help shape an industry, this is the place to do it.

About You

At Carta, you’re not just an employee. You’re a builder who is creating infrastructure that accelerates innovation and empowers more ownership. Cartans are helpful, relentless, unconventional and kind; representing Carta’s Identity Traits. They work collaboratively and cross‑functionally to challenge the status quo; working towards a common goal of creating more owners in the private markets.

If the following sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you:

  • You have 8+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
  • You are able to work in an energetic and agile environment.
  • You act as an owner, not just a contributor, by taking responsibility for outcomes, pushing through ambiguity, and championing solutions that improve team efficiency and business impact.
  • You are eager to move fast, but recognize when to build for the future.
  • You are familiar with data platforming technologies (Snowflake, DBT, Airflow, etc.).

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary + commission if applicable) range for this role is:

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.

Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
