Role Description
We are seeking a Sous Chef with a strong operational and creative mindset who can contribute to both kitchen leadership and culinary development for a growing weekly meals operation.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of developing scalable recipes that maintain consistency, efficiency, and high quality in a production kitchen environment.
$23-$25 per hour, Full time position.
This role involves a combination of:
recipe development
kitchen operations
food standardization
quality control
plating consistency
team supervision
production efficiency
The Sous Chef will work closely with ownership to help build and refine a new meal prep brand from its early stages.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and test new recipes for weekly meal programs
Create scalable and standardized recipes for production
Maintain consistency in food quality, portioning, and presentation
Supervise kitchen staff and daily kitchen operations
Support production planning and operational efficiency
Manage inventory and ingredient utilization
Ensure food safety, cleanliness, and organization standards
Contribute to systems, SOPs, and kitchen workflows
Help establish plating and visual presentation standards
Assist in shaping the culinary direction of a growing brand
Qualifications
Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Executive Sous Chef, or similar leadership role
Strong understanding of kitchen operations and high-volume food production
Experience with recipe development and food standardization
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Understanding of food costing, portion control, and inventory management
Attention to detail in presentation and consistency
Leadership mindset with strong communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup-style environment
Experience in meal prep, commissary kitchens, catering, or production kitchens is highly preferred
Food Handler Certification is an asset
