The Role
We are seeking a pragmatic, business-minded attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel. This is a high-impact, in-house role focused on commercial real estate transactions, leasing, and legal oversight across our portfolio.
This position is ideal for an attorney looking to transition from a law firm, title company or real estate company into a role with direct involvement in deals and day-to-day business decision-making.
This is a fully in-person position based in Merrifield, Virginia, and requires regular interaction with tenants, vendors, brokers, and local stakeholders, as well as frequent site visits.
We are a small friendly office where everyone pitches in and does whatever is needed to keep the company running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of commercial real estate acquisitions, including site/deal evaluation, negotiations, contract drafting, due diligence, title review, and all aspects of closings
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases, amendments, and related agreements
- Prepare and negotiate vendor agreements, construction contracts, and other operational documents
- Identify and manage legal risk across transactions and property operations
- Oversee and manage outside counsel as needed
- Manage public relations and marketing strategy
- Provide legal and strategic support on tenant matters, billing, disputes, and lease enforcement
- Oversee legal aspects of commercial evictions and coordinate court proceedings where appropriate
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active member of the Virginia Bar in good standing (or eligible to waive in)
- 3+ years of relevant experience in commercial real estate law (law firm, in-house, or title company experience preferred)
- Strong experience with commercial leasing and real estate transactions

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $225,000 – $285,000
- Annual performance-based bonus
- Paid time off
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work on-site in Merrifield, VA five days per week
- Willingness to attend in-person meetings and property visits as needed
