Senior Site Reliability Engineer
Join Canonical as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer and help move the world to open source.
Canonical is a leading provider of open source software and operating systems. Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation and IoT, and is trusted by leading cloud and silicon providers.
We are seeking a software engineer fluent in Python who can apply a scientific, metric-based approach to operations and work in a high‑pressure environment to run mission‑critical services for global customers.
Responsibilities
- Bring Python software‑engineering skills and rigor to operations from bare metal to application.
- Practice devsecops across the stack and architect/operate OpenStack, Kubernetes, and software‑defined storage.
- Enable devsecops for applications running on that infrastructure.
- Run hundreds of private cloud, Kubernetes, and application clusters and drive continuous improvement through automation and model‑driven operations.
- Participate in bi‑annual in‑person team sprints and welcome opportunities to travel internationally.
Qualifications
- Degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science.
- Experience with Linux, networking, and storage.
- Python software development expertise.
- Operational experience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.
- Ability to travel internationally twice a year for up to two weeks.
Nice‑to‑have skills
- Experience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operations.
- Familiarity with public or private cloud management.
