Job Title: Curriculum Developer
Position Summary
The Curriculum Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality, industry-aligned vocational programs and course materials that meet regulatory requirements set by the Ministry of Colleges and Universities. This role ensures that all curriculum supports student success, employability, and full compliance with the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005 and associated regulations. The position plays a key role in program approval, audit readiness, and continuous program improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and revise curriculum for diploma, certificate, and short-term vocational programs in alignment with industry standards and occupational requirements.
- Develop comprehensive program documentation including course outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, assessment tools, and evaluation strategies.
- Prepare and submit complete program approval applications, including all required documentation, in accordance with ministry requirements and the Program Approval and Registration Information System (PARIS).
- Ensure all curriculum includes clearly defined learning outcomes, admission requirements, graduation requirements, and credential outcomes in compliance with provincial regulations.
- Integrate applicable entry-to-practice standards, licensing requirements, and regulatory body expectations into program design where relevant.
- Develop and align curriculum with student contract requirements, including program length, hours, delivery format, and required disclosures.
- Ensure all curriculum and program materials meet regulatory, accreditation, and institutional compliance standards at all times.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and organized curriculum documentation to support ministry inspections, audits, and compliance reviews, including unannounced inspections.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts, instructors, and industry partners to ensure content accuracy, relevance, and alignment with labour market needs.
- Support development and implementation of online, hybrid, and in-person delivery formats, ensuring consistency with approved program structures.
- Provide guidance and training to instructors on curriculum delivery, assessment standards, and compliance expectations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in a career college as a Program Developer (required).
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, and associated regulations and policies.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (Moodle) and instructional design tools.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to regulatory detail.
- Strong research, analytical, and documentation skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in compliance-related work.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet strict regulatory deadlines.
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and ministry guidelines.
