Specialist – Group Classes, Recreation and Outdoor Activities-EN

THE ROLE

Physical fitness is our strength! As a member of a dynamic and dedicated team, you will work closely with Canadian Armed Forces members, supporting and actively preparing them to defend and serve our country. Your role will involve planning and leading a variety of outdoor activities, group classes, and recreational programming, including day‑camp operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and lead outdoor activities and group classes.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment while promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.
• Organize and lead special recreational activities, including programs for young children as part of the day‑camp program.
• Apply state‑of‑the‑art scientific research and technology to deliver high‑quality programs and services.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

• College diploma or certificate in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Sciences, or a related field.
• Several years of experience in physical fitness evaluation and prescription, or in a related field.

Current CPR And Basic First Aid Qualifications

• Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Certificate.
• Current Lifesaving Society Advanced Instructor.
• Current Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer (asset).
• Canadian Forces EXPRES Test – Incentive Level.
• Successful completion of the Principles of Healthy Child Development and Quest 2 certification, HIGH FIVE (by the end of probation).
• Successful completion of the Personnel Support Programs (PSP) Instructor’s Course (by the end of probation).

EXPERIENCE

• Evaluating, planning and organizing the delivery of aquatic programs.
• Preparing and conducting physical fitness training sessions.
• Instructing health and physical fitness training modules.
• Applying policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Evaluating physical fitness.
• Coaching sports.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

• Bilingual (English and French) – essential.
• Reading: Basic.
• Writing: Basic.
