About The Role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for 2 temporary part-time Phlebotomists (Donor Centre Associates) to join our dynamic Collections team in our Saint John, New Brunswick donor centre. The Collections team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting donor blood and blood components in a safe manner to provide patients with lifesaving products every day.
In this role, you will perform phlebotomy in the collection process in accordance with health and safety standards. You will work face-to-face with our donors, team members, and volunteers providing them with safe and quality service during each stage of the collection process.
Responsibilities / Formula for success
Leverage superb client service skills and effective communication with donors and team; conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build a positive donor experience.
Follow procedures to ensure safe processing and handling of blood products while respecting donor privacy.
Apply phlebotomy training to perform venipuncture according to established standards, monitor donor safety and comfort, and provide post-donation care and instruction.
Maintain accuracy of product information in the computer system and in product labeling and preparation.
Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and supporting best practices that enhance processes and donor experience.
Assist in setting up booths, tables, and equipment at mobile events to ensure donor clinics are ready for use.
Qualifications / Desired Education and Skills
Completion of high school.
Completion of accredited training program in phlebotomy or one year related experience; an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
Knowledge of and experience with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
Basic computer skills; ability to learn new systems. Prior knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook is an asset.
Ability to communicate in more than one language is an asset.

What You Can Expect
Shifts/hours will vary; must be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts based on operational needs. Shifts include days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
Travel will be required for mobile events; transportation will be provided by Canadian Blood Services.
Physical requirements include the ability to lift supplies and equipment in excess of 10 kg (22 lbs).
