Job Description

We are seeking a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to support facility-wide quality control activities within a fast-paced beverage manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, food safety standards, and regulatory expectations through analytical testing, production support, product verification, and real-time quality oversight across manufacturing and packaging operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform routine analytical and quality testing on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify compliance with product specifications, customer requirements, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
· Conduct laboratory testing including pH, dissolved oxygen, carbonation, titratable acidity, ABV, package integrity verification, seam evaluation, sensory analysis, and additional quality verification testing as required.
· Collect production and packaging samples in accordance with GMP, sanitation, and laboratory procedures, including microbiological and environmental monitoring activities as required.
· Serve as a frontline quality representative supporting manufacturing and packaging operations across the facility.
· Monitor product quality and process performance throughout manufacturing operations and escalate quality, food safety, packaging integrity, or specification concerns in a timely manner.
· Support product hold, release, investigation, rework, and disposition activities in collaboration with Quality and Operations teams.
· Support production startups, changeovers, packaging operations, troubleshooting activities, and quality verification throughout manufacturing.
· Calibrate, verify, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
· Accurately record, review, trend, and communicate laboratory data, testing results, deviations, and quality observations.
· Assist with investigations related to product quality issues, customer complaints, specification deviations, and non-conformances, including supporting corrective and preventive actions.
· Support compliance with GMPs, sanitation programs, allergen controls, food safety systems, and applicable regulatory and certification requirements including CFIA, Health Canada, FSSC 22000, Organic, and Gluten-Free standards.
· Support customer, regulatory, certification, and internal audit activities while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across laboratory and manufacturing operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Diploma or degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline.
· Previous laboratory, quality control, or manufacturing experience within food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or consumer packaged goods industries is preferred.
· Strong understanding of GMPs, food safety systems, sanitation practices, and quality control principles.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while managing competing priorities and maintaining accuracy.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and laboratory or manufacturing data systems; experience with ERP, LIMS, or quality documentation systems is considered an asset.
· Ability to make sound decisions and appropriately escalate quality or food safety concerns when required.
· Flexibility to support shift-based operations including day, afternoon, weekend, or extended-hour coverage based on production requirements.
· Strong commitment to safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Experience Considered an Asset:
- Experience working within food safety and quality management systems such as FSSC 22000, SQF, BRCGS, GFSI, or ISO-based systems.
- Familiarity with laboratory quality systems, calibration programs, and documentation requirements including ISO 17025 principles.
- Experience with sensory evaluation, sensory panels, or product quality assessments.
