Job Description
Horse care:feed horses,clean stalls,refill water, basic health checks,follow instructions for meds/treatments(training provided); dress horses for weather/conditions(blankets,fly masks,muzzles,boots,etc.)& adjust turnout based on weather,footing,and horse’s needs within farm guidelines.
-Monitor feed,hay,bedding,and supplement inventory;order or notify owners before supplies run low.Coordinate farrier/vet appointments; hold horses for those visits.Maintain safe,clean,low-stress routines and basic biosecurity.
Farm ops:assist with daily barn,indoor arena,and surrounding upkeep(sweeping,cobweb removal,organizing).Tractor to mow pastures,drag arena, light farm maintenance (property maintenance for non-horse areas is already handled)Clean tack and grooming equipment;support clinics/occasional events by having horses ready,organized,and safely managed.This is not a lesson barn,but help grooming/tacking privately owned horses is needed.
Schedule:AM shift approx.7:00 a.m.-finish(usually 3-4 hrs,seasonally changes)and/or PM shift approx.4:00 p.m.-finish(turnout times adjusted in extreme heat/weather,usually 3-4 hrs,seasonally changes).Role may be full or split into AM/PM positions.We offer flexibility as long as horses are reliably fed,turned out/in,and blanketed as needed.We want someone here most of the day,several days a week;not necessarily every day.Occasional adjusted hours during severe weather or vet emergencies.
Looking for:Genuine love for horses,integrity,reliability,strong work ethic,safe horse-handling skills,and ability to work independently after training.Some horse or farm experience required;prior barn operations experience is a plus but not mandatory.Physically able to handle barn work in all seasons.
