Software Engineering Senior Manager – X Delivery

Who We Are

As a part of BCG's X Delivery team you will work closely with consulting teams on a diverse range of advanced topics. You will have the opportunity to leverage software development methodologies to deliver value to BCG's Consulting & X (case) teams, X Product teams and Practice Areas (domain) through providing software developer subject matter expertise, and accelerated execution support. You will collaborate with teams to gather requirements, specify, design, develop, deliver and support software solutions serving client needs.

You will provide technical support through deeper understanding of relevant software solutions and processes to build high quality and efficient technology solutions. Assignments will range from short term Proof of concepts/Minimum viable product to long term cases with enterprise grade software development as a critical enabler through the project level description of the role responsibilities and impact within the organization.

What You'll Do

As a part of BCG X Delivery team you will take full technical ownership of a strategic BCG product, leading its architecture, roadmap, and end-to-end implementation. You will operate at the intersection of product, engineering, and client engagement — ensuring the product is scalable, enterprise-ready, and aligned with business objectives.

You will:

• Own the end-to-end technical strategy and implementation of the product
• Define and manage the technical product roadmap, aligning engineering priorities with business goals
• Translate business requirements into clear, scalable architecture and execution plans
• Lead architectural decisions across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and AI/GenAI components
• Define how the product will be implemented, deployed, integrated, and scaled
• Guide the product lifecycle from MVP to enterprise-grade maturity
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices across development, CI/CD, testing, and deployment
• Conduct architecture and code reviews to ensure quality and long-term maintainability
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early and proactively manage them
• Engage with consulting teams and clients to shape implementation strategy and technical direction
• Remain hands-on when needed, contributing to solution design and critical development components
• Mentor and guide the engineering team to build sustainable, high-performance capabilities

YOU’RE GOOD AT

Product, Architecture & Implementation Leadership

• Operating as both Architect and Engineer — strategic in vision, hands-on in execution
• Owning and evolving product roadmaps with clear prioritization and dependency management
• Designing scalable, cloud-native, enterprise-grade systems
• Translating ambiguous business problems into structured technical solutions
• Defining practical implementation strategies, balancing MVP speed with long-term maintainability
• Making sound architectural trade-offs with security, reliability, and performance by design
• Integrating GenAI capabilities into production-ready applications

Client & Stakeholder Partnership

• Partnering closely with consulting teams and product stakeholders
• Acting as a trusted technical advisor in architecture and implementation decisions
• Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences

Technical Expertise

• Strong hands-on experience with Python and/or NodeJS (Express), and React or modern frontend frameworks
• Cloud platforms (ideally Azure), CI/CD, and DevOps practices
• Docker, Kubernetes, container registries
• SQL databases
• GenAI-assisted coding, eg Cursor and Copilot
• Designing distributed systems and APIs
• Applying structured problem-solving to complex engineering challenges

Team Leadership

• Leading and mentoring engineering teams
• Establishing engineering standards and best practices
• Building motivated, high-performing teams with strong ownership culture

What You'll Bring

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong background in architecture and enterprise system design
• Proven experience owning and managing product implementation end-to-end
• Experience managing product roadmaps alongside technical delivery
• Hands-on coding experience in modern technology stacks
• Experience working in client-facing environments
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and structured thinking skills
• Experience with AI / GenAI-driven products strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience

Who You'll Work With

You will be working with our BCG internal product team, you will be working closely with clients and case teams to shape the future roadmap of the product; and you will be implementing quick prototypes yourself and then working with a small developer team to work on the implementation and provide ongoing client support.
