Customs Clearance Agent

We are looking for a highly proactive, formally licensed Customs Broker to take complete ownership of our customs clearance and compliance operations. Navigating Indian customs requires more than just filling out paperwork; it requires a hustler’s mindset, deep regulatory knowledge, and the persistence to push shipments through the system without delays. You will not be micromanaged. Instead, you will be expected to operate autonomously, anticipate roadblocks before they happen, and treat our cross-border operations as your own business. Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Clearance: Manage the complete customs clearance lifecycle for imports and exports, ensuring zero unnecessary delays, demurrage, or detention charges.
• Documentation & Filing: Flawlessly prepare and file Bills of Entry, Shipping Bills, and other vital documentation through the ICEGATE portal and via Faceless Assessment protocols.
• Tariff & Compliance Strategy: Accurately classify goods (HSN codes), calculate precise duties, and ensure absolute compliance with the Customs Act, Allied Acts, and the latest DGFT policies.
• On-the-Ground Problem Solving: Actively liaise with customs officials, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and ground staff to resolve queries, examinations, or regulatory holds swiftly.
• Process Optimization: Build out streamlined, tech-enabled workflows for our clearance processes. Don't just follow the old way of doing things—find faster, more efficient methods to track and clear shipments.
• Advisory: Serve as the internal expert on trade compliance, keeping the team ahead of any changes in customs regulations, tariff structures, or free trade agreements.

What We’re Looking For

• Mandatory Qualification: You must have successfully passed the Customs Broker Examination (Rule 6 under CBLR, 2018 / formerly CHALR) and hold a valid license/qualification.
• Experience: 3+ years of hard, hands-on experience in customs clearance, dealing directly with customs authorities and complex shipments.
• Entrepreneurial Drive: You do not take "no" or "it's stuck" for an answer. You are scrappy, resourceful, and relentless in figuring out a legal, compliant way to get the job done quickly.
• High Autonomy: You don't wait for instructions. You take ownership of the entire process from the moment a shipment is booked until it is safely cleared and dispatched.
• Location Flexibility: While we strongly prefer someone who can operate out of our Bangalore office for tight collaboration, we are open to a remote arrangement for a highly self-motivated candidate with a proven track record.
