The Team Leader, Production Support DBA, is responsible for leading a high‑performing DBA production support team delivering
24x7 mission‑critical database services
across
on‑premise and cloud platforms
. This role requires
very strong hands‑on technical expertise
, deep
production troubleshooting skills
, and proven
people leadership
to ensure
high availability, performance, observability, and resilience
of enterprise databases.
The Team Leader acts as the
technical escalation point
, leads
major production incidents
, participates in
all MIRT bridges
, and drives
proactive monitoring, prevention, and automation
across the database estate.
Key Responsibilities
Production Database Support & Operations
- Lead and oversee
production database support
for
on‑premise and cloud platforms
, ensuring stability, availability, and performance.
- Serve as the
highest technical escalation
for complex production issues, including Sev‑1 / Sev‑2 incidents.
- Lead major production incidents
and actively participate in
every MIRT bridge
, driving fast restoration and clear communication.
- Perform deep‑dive
root cause analysis (RCA)
and ensure permanent fixes are implemented.
- Own
incident, problem, and change management
processes related to databases.
Database Platforms Supported
Provide expert‑level support and leadership for:
- Microsoft SQL Server
(on‑prem, Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance)
- PostgreSQL
(on‑prem and cloud)
- Oracle
- IBM Db2
- Netezza
- AWS RDS
- Amazon Redshift
Performance Tuning & Troubleshooting
- Lead
advanced production troubleshooting
across all supported database platforms.
- Drive
performance tuning
initiatives including SQL tuning, indexing strategies, memory/IO optimization, and workload analysis.
- Review and optimize database configurations for
high throughput, low latency, and scalability
.
- Guide the team in resolving complex
locking, deadlock, replication, backup, recovery, and corruption
issues.
High Availability, Resiliency & Observability
- Work with engineering, application, and infrastructure teams to design and maintain
high availability (HA)
and
disaster recovery (DR)
architectures.
- Ensure databases meet
RTO/RPO objectives
and resilience standards.
- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of
monitoring, alerting, and observability
across the database ecosystem.
- Proactively identify risks and implement
preventative controls
to reduce production incidents.
Automation & Engineering Excellence
- Drive
automation‑first
mindset for database operations.
- Lead development and maintenance of
Ansible playbooks
for database monitor
- Promote scripting and automation using:
- Linux shell scripting
- Windows PowerShell
- Reduce manual effort and operational risk through standardized, repeatable automation.
Team Leadership & People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a
production DBA team
, fostering strong technical depth and operational excellence.
- Assign work, set priorities, and ensure on‑call coverage and operational readiness.
- Coach team members during major incidents and post‑incident reviews.
- Promote collaboration across DBA, application, cloud, infrastructure, and SRE teams.
- Build a culture of
accountability, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing
.

Salary
:
$75,900.00 - $141,900.00
