Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Tax Accountant/Tax Strategist to join our team and drive our tax planning, compliance, and strategic initiatives. Duties
- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Develop comprehensive tax strategies that align with business goals, including estate planning, mergers & acquisitions, and investment structuring.
- Conduct detailed analysis of financial statements using GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) to identify tax implications and opportunities for savings.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements such as SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and coordinate audits related to tax matters.
- Provide expert guidance on securities law, LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit), and other specialized tax credits or incentives relevant to the organization’s projects.
- Support financial report writing and interpretation by analyzing balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for accurate tax provisioning.
- Utilize various accounting software tools like QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial software to maintain accurate records including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable processing, and asset management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on budgeting, financial planning, and analysis to optimize tax efficiencies across all departments.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of tax accounting principles combined with strong understanding of estate planning, wills & trusts law, securities law, and non-profit accounting.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, along with experience in double-entry bookkeeping and general ledger reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of GAAP standards along with technical accounting skills related to mergers & acquisitions and private equity transactions.
- Demonstrated ability in financial analysis, report interpretation, asset management, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Excellent analysis skills with a keen eye for detail in account reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
- Strong communication skills for clear financial report writing and explaining complex tax concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience working within SOX compliance frameworks and performing audits related to public accounting or corporate environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced setting involving sales strategies or investment activities.
