Senior AI / Machine Learning Engineer – OCR & Document Intelligence

We are looking for a highly skilled AI/ML Engineer to design and build an intelligent document processing system for logistics operations. The role involves developing machine learning models for OCR, document understanding, and automated data extraction from logistics documents such as:

• Rate Confirmations
• Invoices
• Proof of Delivery (POD)
• Bills of Lading (BOL)

The AI system will integrate directly with our Transportation Management System (TMS) to automate load creation, invoice generation, and operational workflows.This is a high-impact role responsible for building scalable AI infrastructure and models that will power the next generation of logistics automation.Key ResponsibilitiesAI Model Development

• Design and develop machine learning models for document intelligence and OCR-based data extraction.
• Build models capable of extracting structured information from unstructured logistics documents.
• Train and optimize models for high accuracy in document parsing.

Document Processing Pipeline

• Build end-to-end AI pipelines for document ingestion, preprocessing, OCR processing, and data extraction.
• Implement intelligent parsing for fields such as:
• Load number
• Rate
• Pickup and delivery locations
• Broker information
• Dates and reference numbers

Model Training and Optimization

• Develop training datasets and labeling strategies.
• Optimize model performance for accuracy, speed, and scalability.
• Conduct experimentation with different ML architectures.

AI Infrastructure

• Design scalable infrastructure for model training and deployment.
• Work with GPU-based training environments.
• Implement model versioning and monitoring systems.

Integration with Product

• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate AI outputs with the TMS platform.
• Develop APIs to expose AI capabilities to the platform.
• Ensure real-time or near-real-time processing of documents.

Performance and Reliability

• Continuously improve model accuracy and reduce extraction errors.
• Implement fallback logic and validation rules for AI predictions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning / AI development
• Strong experience in OCR and document intelligence systems
• Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks such as:
• TensorFlow
• PyTorch
• Experience building ML pipelines for production systems
• Strong programming skills in Python
• Experience working with large datasets and model training

Technical SkillsMachine Learning

• Experience working with logistics or supply chain data

• Knowledge of layout-aware models such as LayoutLM
• Experience with MLOps and model deployment pipelines
• Experience designing AI-driven SaaS products

What Success Looks Like in This RoleWithin the first 6 months, the engineer will:

• Build a working AI pipeline for logistics document processing
• Achieve high accuracy extraction of key fields from rate confirmations
• Integrate AI output with the TMS platform
