Join BGC Ottawa as a Seasonal Sous Chef at Camp Smitty in Eganville, ON. This role focuses on meal preparation and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen environment while supporting campers aged 8 to 16.
As a Seasonal Sous Chef, you will report to the Camp Manager and work closely with the Head Cook. Collaborating in meal prep, ensuring food safety, and promoting a positive kitchen culture are key aspects of this position. Experience in kitchens or camps is a plus, along with strong communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing balanced, nutritious meals following camp menus
- Ensure proper food storage and kitchen sanitation
- Maintain cleanliness in kitchen areas daily
- Support kitchen inventory management and organization
- Report any equipment issues to the Head Cook
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in high school or post-secondary studies
- Experience in a kitchen environment is an asset
- Safe Food Handling certification preferred
- First Aid certification required
- Ability to participate actively in staff training sessions
