Job Summary
The Team
Vancouver Provincial Court is the largest criminal court in the Vancouver Coastal Region. It manages court administration for criminal matters in Vancouver and Burnaby, as well as circuit courts in Bella Bella, Bella Coola, and Klemtu. Downtown Community Court uses a model that brings justice, health, and social services together in one place. This approach supports more coordinated responses to community and justice needs.
The Role
This role provides essential court clerk services and administrative support to ensure court proceedings run smoothly and fairly. The position prepares and reviews court documents, records proceedings, and manages exhibits with care and accuracy, while working closely with the Judiciary, legal professionals, justice partners, and the public. With a focus on respectful communication and inclusive service, this position helps create a courtroom environment where everyone feels supported and treated equitably.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience working in an office environment; OR 2 years combination of customer service, clerical duties, office experience and education.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in keyboarding, data entry, word processing, standard computer applications and software programs (e.g., Windows, MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
Minimum of 40 words per minute (WPM) in keyboarding/typing.
- Preference may be given to applicants with:
- Experience in Court Programs and Applications (JUSTIN, CEIS, ARC, CTAS, CCD).
- Experience with delivering Customer Service.
- Experience as a court clerk and/or registry clerk.
1 year of previous work experience in a legal environment.
- Provisos:
- Attendance and completion of relevant training is required
- May be required to work flexible hours, including varied shifts and overtime on short notice
- May be required to travel, including travel in adverse weather conditions and work in other geographical areas, including circuit court locations. Must have reliable transportation and/or be willing to travel with others
- Able to lift heavy objects up to 30 lbs
