Blakes Vancouver is currently recruiting for a Coordinator, eDiscovery and Litigation Support to join our Litigation Department. Reporting to Litigation Partners, this role requires a candidate who will provide professional, efficient, and prompt service to our lawyers and clients.

Major Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain litigation document management databases (in Relativity).
  • Prepare lists of documents and reliance lists for litigation and arbitration.
  • Intake and management of paper and electronic documents/data.
  • Work with and train lawyers, students, and staff on use of litigation support technology (ie. Relativity) and eDiscovery best practices.
  • Work with legal team to prepare electronic document exchange protocols.
  • Assist legal team with document and privilege reviews, and electronic redaction.
  • Work with clients throughout the litigation and arbitration process.
  • Collaborate and work with the National eDiscovery team as required.
  • Preparation of eDiscovery estimates and budgets.
  • Determine protocol and procedures for litigation file management and best practices.
  • Upload and download of data through SFTP sites.
  • Provide traditional paralegal responsibilities, such as the preparation of court documents, handling of exhibits and transcripts, and other court and tribunal-related material.
  • Troubleshoot eDiscovery issues.
  • Keep abreast of changes in law, practice directions and new litigation software applications.
  • Perform litigation searches.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a senior capacity working with litigation document management software; preferably Relativity.
  • Paralegal certificate or diploma preferred.
  • Related experience with medium to large complex litigation files.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced technical skills and knowledge of databases.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member and leading a team.
  • Detail oriented; excellent organizational skills with the ability to work effectively under short deadlines in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficient in Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook.
