What you will do
You will join the Markets and Banking Department (MBD), operating at the heart of financial markets and banking operations. In this role, you will analyze and clarify end‑to‑end payments, securities, and collateral processes, and support the delivery of meaningful improvements.
You will primarily be responsible for providing business analysis expertise to elicit, clarify and document user needs, ensuring scrum teams clearly understand and deliver features aligned with stakeholder expectations and modernization initiatives. At times, you may also provide operational support by leading the investigation and resolution of issues during critical operations.
More specifically, you will
- Collaborate within a Scrum team to elicit business requirements and translate them into specifications and user stories; support testing activities and maintain clear documentation (e.g., processes, procedures, training materials) to strengthen operational applications.
- Provide strategic and analytical insight by evaluating options and recommending improvements to the Bank’s business solutions in response to evolving domestic and global economic conditions.
- Partner closely with business lines to ensure end‑state solutions meet business needs and align with organizational objectives.
- Analyze and clarify requirements across business units, validating assumptions and identifying potential operational and downstream impacts.
- Contribute to the effectiveness and continuous improvement of the Agile team and overall system.
What you need to succeed
You excel at eliciting, documenting, and managing high-level requirements for large-scale, IT-enabled projects in an Agile environment. You translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories that support effective delivery.
You bring an Agile mindset, fostering collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. With strong communication skills, you conduct impact and needs assessments, provide clear context to delivery teams, and produce accessible analysis for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Adaptable and solution-oriented, you manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. You have strong analytical skills and continuously seek opportunities to improve outcomes and contribute to team success.
You also bring experience as a Business Analyst in an IT environment, a solid knowledge of the SDLC and are comfortable with technical discussions. Experience with data-related solutions (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes, BI platforms) is an asset, including writing SQL queries, working with large datasets, and building dashboards in tools such as Power BI.
Nice-to-have
- Experience in a financial/banking environment including the understanding of front, middle and back-office operations, treasury/portfolio management tools, payment systems and/or the Canadian Payments landscape, as well as macroeconomic concepts such as the role of central banking
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Copilot to draft and enhance business analysis artefacts, with the ability to critically assess and validate AI generated outputs before use
- Experience supporting business intelligence or data analytics initiatives, including the ability to analyze and interpret large datasets, using tools such as Power BI
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure data platforms such as Databricks, Fabric, Workspaces
- Working knowledge of R and Python programming languages
- Relevant professional certifications, such as CBAP®, CCBA®, CFA®, or equivalent designations.
Your education and experience
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (business administration, commerce, computer science) and a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting the development of business requirements and delivering of business system analysis, with a strong understanding of people, processes, systems design and technology. The Bank’s work environment is conducive to the use of both of Canada’s official languages - English and French. The position language requirement is Level 5 (Fully Functional). - Salaries are based on qualifications and experience and typically range from $94,193 to $110,816 (job grade 16)
- The Bank offers an incentive for successfully meeting expectations at 5 to 7% of your base salary. The Bank offers additional performance pay (3%) for those who exceed expectations. Exceptional performers who far exceed expectations may be eligible for higher performance pay.
