Job Description

Lead Technician Facilities is a working supervisor position which performs, plans and oversees daily operations within the Logistics Department. This position is responsible for maintaining the safe operating standards, acting as a key communication link between Supervisors and Technicians along with maintaining logs and records as required. This role requires proactive and organized qualities with strong leadership and communication skills to maintain smooth operations and foster a productive team environment.

Essential Functions

  • Plans and executes school moves, general routines, furniture distribution, transportation of City Schools assets, disposal of furniture and daily operations of schools.
  • Supports vendor and contractor projects, involving water bottle distribution, related supplies, and solid waste management, under guidance of supervisor.
  • Manage and maintain the inventory of logistics equipment, including tables, chairs, tools, dollies, and flatbeds.
  • Maintain, track, and report accurate digital records of all logistics equipment using management systems.
  • Conducts routine inspections of facilities and reports conditions and develops action plans to correct deficiencies and initiate work orders.
  • Initiates work orders, including cost estimates of labor and materials in the computerized management maintenance system (CMMS) that monitors the operational maintenance issues and completion rate of work orders.
  • Performs, assigns and supervises the work of Logistics personnel and assists the general training, and development of team members.
  • Organizing and securing the storage room to ensure efficient operations and easy access to equipment.
  • Communicates with school administration on status of work orders and coordinates work activities.
  • Performs all logistical duties requiring effective verbal, written and computer communication skills. Complete written reports as requested.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and nondiscrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board's policies and the professional standards.
  • Utilizes resources appropriately to complete work in the most efficient manner; proactively communicates the status of work; participates and contributes fully as a team member; and exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills to resolve sensitive matters.

Desired Qualifications

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five years of practical experience in the facilities maintenance and operations of a facility.
  • Direct experience in school plant operations and facilities preferred.
  • Building maintenance certifications are preferred.
  • Valid State of Maryland driver's license.
  • Commercial Drivers' License (CDL) preferred.
  • Proven ability to quickly gain knowledge of relevant Federal and State regulations and guidelines in the areas of logistics.
  • Proven ability to quickly analyze problems, recommend and implement workable solutions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with principals, teachers, administrators, and the general public.
  • Proven ability to ensure delivery of high levels of customer service to the schools throughout the district.
  • Proficient skill in the use of personal computers and relevant design and office applications.
  • Proficient in the knowledge and use of technical computer applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable building codes and standards, ordinances, and regulations and read blueprints.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize ongoing and multiple projects, to address multiple tasks, technical issues, and contingencies at the same time.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consultants, contractors, and City Schools personnel at all levels

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($31.53 - $39.53).
