We are seeking faculty members to contribute to teaching and research in the broad areas of climate science, environmental science, and sustainability. You will join a highly collaborative, innovative interdisciplinary team contributing to the development and delivery of courses and programmes, conducting innovative research that can drive practice, policy and real-life applications towards societal challenges.
Climate science candidates must have expertise in core climate change modelling and forecasting, mitigation, adaptation, or related interdisciplinary fields. Environmental science candidates will work on areas of environmental pollution and its ecological and human health impacts, with solid understanding of the theoretical aspects of pollution and familiarity with the laboratory and field aspects of air, water, and soil sampling, and with instruments and techniques used in state-of-the-art pollution labs.
We seek applicants who have an interest in embracing an interdisciplinary approach, working collaboratively in teams, identify with the purpose of the University, and are keen to teach students from diverse educational backgrounds. Candidates must be flexible to teach courses outside of their core disciplines, as needed.
Responsibilities
1. Teaching and Curriculum Development:
Developing and delivering high-quality disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses in climate and environmental science, at undergraduate and graduate levels.
Creating innovative and engaging teaching materials, assignments, and assessments that incorporate real-world datasets and their outputs, and connect them to societal issues of everyday relevance.
Mentoring and supervising students from diverse educational and disciplinary backgrounds.
2. Research and Scholarship:
Conducting cutting-edge disciplinary research in climate and environmental science that has potential to address real-life environmental, ecological and societal challenges in the Indian context.
Working in team-oriented teams to develop innovative interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research that can feed into policy and practice.
3. Service and Collaboration:
Engaging in service activities, participating in committees, and contributing to the advancement of the University’s overall goals.
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, policymakers, and stakeholders to translate climate and environmental research into actionable information for decision-making.
Actively participating in public research communication, teacher training, community outreach, public education, and policy discussions.
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in climate science, just energy transitions, and environmental sciences including conducting laboratory sessions.
Develop curriculum and courses focusing on climate science, environmental sustainability, pollution and related topics.
Develop short courses and workshops for teaching practitioners and engaging with policy makers and the wider public.
Develop and maintain a research program in climate or environmental sciences.
Requirements
An advanced degree in Climate Science, Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, Geography, Ecology or related fields.
For climate science candidates – demonstrated expertise and research experience in climate science, with a focus on climate models and forecasting, data analysis, mitigation, adaptation, just energy transitions, climate adaptation and risk assessment, climate impacts on societal well-being, or related fields
For environmental science candidates — expertise in field research related to environmental sciences impact on ecology or human health, including the use of instrumentation related to environmental pollution.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Willingness to work collaboratively and in teams.
Keen interest in engaging with our diverse student body.
