The Risk Analyst role supports the Credit and Country Risk Management Team, which is part of the CRO Americas, Underwriting Risk, Credit and country Risk. This role reports to the Head of Credit and Country Risk Management.

The position requires a skilled and proactive Risk Data & Analytics Specialist to support our credit and country risk management functions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for data management, automation initiatives, risk analysis, and reporting processes that enhance organizational risk oversight and decision-making. This role requires effective technical expertise, innovative thinking, and the ability to collaborate across teams to improve efficiency and data integrity.

What you’ll be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Conduct credit and country risk data aggregations using Structed Query Language (SQL) to facilitate robust risk assessment processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance comprehensive dashboards in Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (PBI) to enable effective risk monitoring and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the business units to ensure timely, accurate, and standardized data uploads via SharePoint.
  • Maintain detailed, up-to-date documentation of risk management procedures to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
  • Support the Short-Term Economic Capital (STEC) data requirements, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Utilize AI-driven data management and analytics techniques to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of Credit and Country risk assessments.
  • Automate the Ultimate Parent mapping process by exploring and integrating various tools and Application Programming Interface (APIs) to improve precision and reduce manual effort.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a centralized referral management system via SharePoint, streamlining communication and automating workflow processes with business units.
  • Contribute to the implementation of strategies aimed at improving consistency and efficiency in risk aggregations, ratings, sector classifications, and country data across AXA XL.
  • Create and maintain educational videos to promote best practices and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Assist in validating and assessing the suitability of credit risk tools, and models, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements and exploring alternative solutions.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of risk management policies and risk tolerance frameworks.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of downside scenarios, Potential Maximum Loss (PML), and Loss Given Default (LGD) metrics.
  • Conduct periodic and ad hoc research on selected underwriting portfolios to inform risk assessment.
  • Perform targeted, real-time research on emerging events to support proactive risk management.
  • Provide risk analysis support for complex transaction deals referred for review.
  • Contribute to the updates of dashboards for risk management committees.
  • Support climate risk analysis, geopolitical scenarios risk data summarization, audit, regulatory reporting, and other deliverables.
  • Assist the Credit and Country Risk team with special projects and ad hoc tasks as required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven experience in risk data management, analytics, or related fields.
  • Outstanding proficiency in SQL, PBI, and automation tools/APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with risk assessment, scenario analysis, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Ability to work self-supportedly, prioritize tasks effectively, and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of (re)insurance product lines and investment risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across complex, matrix organizations to develop solutions.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement with a proactive approach to streamlining processes.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
  • Ability to question the status quo to constructively drive positive change.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of credit and country risk practices within the financial services or the (re)insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning applications in data analysis and risk modeling.
  • Experience in developing and implementing risk management policies and frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in finance, Investments, Risk Management, Mathematics, or Economics.
  • CFA or FRM designation is preferred.
  • Relevant years of experience working within a (re)insurance company.
  • Familiarity with capital modeling and/or model validation processes.
