The Sturgeon Lake Health Centre is seeking highly motivated Mental Health & Addictions Worker to provide addiction and mental health counseling services to individuals and families which include; prevention, intervention, treatment, referral and aftercare. The Mental Health & Addictions Worker will also provide educational services to the community and school on addiction awareness and provide regular reports on activities to the supervisor and Health Advisory Board.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Work with individuals, families, groups, and the Nation to provide comprehensive addiction and mental health support.
Will be responsible for conducting interviews, performing testing and risk assessment sessions, assessing client issues, and preparing treatment plans with client input. Maintain detailed client notes and records, prepare file summaries and closures.
Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences which contribute to their issues including substance abuse, bullying, development, anger management, mental health issues i.e., depression, suicidal ideation, relationships, etc.
The Mental Health & Addictions Worker will offer client services in dealing with a variety of issues within their strengths. When faced with issues outside of their expertise they will refer clients to the appropriate resources. They will maintain direct and seamless connections with all suitable resources and services.
The Mental Health & Addictions Worker will accept walk-in clients whenever possible who do not require an appointment to access help or consultation.
