Atlantic Lottery (AL) is looking for a Lead UX Designer to drive the strategic direction of user experience across our digital products. This is a Lead Individual Contributor (IC) role - meaning you will shape UX vision, influence product strategy, and elevate the overall design practice without direct people management responsibilities.

Qualifications

What You'll Need

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years in UX Design, Product Design, or UX Research with demonstrable senior‑level impact.
  • Experience leading design initiatives, influencing cross‑functional teams, and driving UX strategy.
  • Strong understanding of WCAG accessibility standards
  • Must be 19 years of age or older to apply.
  • Must reside in Atlantic Canada.

Professional Skills:

  • Expertise in human‑centered design, information architecture, interaction design, and UX research.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and guide teams through complex UX decisions.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with ability to translate research and strategy for stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker who can connect product goals, user needs, and business outcomes.
  • Proficiency with Figma and experience with design systems (AEM experience is an asset).

Assets (Nice-to-Haves):

  • Experience with large-scale design system governance.
  • Background in service design, product strategy, or UX leadership roles.
  • Experience working in Agile product teams.

Work Location & Flexibility

Remote within Atlantic Canada, or hybrid work from our Moncton (NB) or Halifax (NS) office.

Occasional travel for key workshops, planning sessions, or major milestones may be required.

Compensation

  • Salary Band: $75,200 - $122,200
  • Expected Hiring Range: $95,000 - $115,000 (based on experience, skills, market conditions, and internal equity)

Recruitment Process

We've made meaningful enhancements to our hiring practices in recent years. Our typical recruitment process includes:

  • An assignment and/or scenario‑based questions
  • Behavioral or cognitive assessments
  • Verification of relevant certifications (as applicable)

Internal Candidates

Internal applicants must be in good standing, which includes meeting expectations on their most recent performance review. Performance improvement plans, disciplinary actions, attendance, mandatory training, and other performance‑related factors may be considered. A Predictive Index (PI) assessment will also be conducted or shared with hiring managers.

Eligibility to Work in Canada

Candidates must have all required work permits, visas, and authorizations and be eligible to work in Canada at the time an offer is made. It is the candidate's responsibility to secure these requirements.

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and champion UX strategy across digital products (web, mobile, and omni‑channel experiences).
  • Lead discovery and problem framing to ensure product direction is guided by user insights.
  • Establish UX standards, principles, and frameworks that elevate design maturity across the organization.
  • Act as the primary UX representative in roadmap planning and strategic design discussions.
