Okta IAM Specialist

The Senior IAM Specialist is responsible for leading the integration and implementation of enterprise Identity & Access Management solutions with a primary focus on Okta Workforce Identity and Access Management (WIAM). This role ensures secure and seamless access across cloud and on‑premise applications by designing scalable IAM solutions, implementing authentication standards, and driving identity modernization.

Key Responsibilities

Integration & Implementation

• Lead the end-to-end integration and implementation of Okta WIAM services including SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management, and adaptive access.
• Integrate enterprise and SaaS applications using SAML, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SCIM for automated provisioning.
• Configure and deploy Okta policies, MFA factors, group rules, authentication flows, and application access controls.
• Implement automated user lifecycle processes using Okta Workflows, API-based provisioning, and IDP connectors.

Identity Security & Governance

• Enforce identity security best practices aligned with zero-trust principles.
• Implement access policies, MFA strategies, and privileged identity controls.
• Conduct IAM security reviews and support compliance with standards such as SOC2, ISO 27001, and NIST.

Operations & Support

• Act as the Tier‑3 SME for identity-related incidents, SSO issues, integration failures, and authentication challenges.
• Maintain and optimize Okta tenant configuration, certificate updates, and application health monitoring.

Leadership & Strategy

• Provide guidance to technical teams on IAM best practices, Okta integration patterns, and secure authentication design.
• Collaborate with cloud, security, DevOps, and application teams to align IAM capabilities with organizational security goals.
• Contribute to roadmap initiatives such as MFA adoption, passwordless authentication, and identity automation.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–10+ years in IAM engineering or senior technical roles.
• Deep experience with Okta WIAM including SSO, MFA, LCM, and Okta Workflows.
• Strong hands-on expertise integrating applications using SAML and OIDC.
• Proficiency with identity protocols and frameworks: OAuth 2.0, SCIM, LDAP, RADIUS.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and modern authentication.
