Introduction to role:
Are you ready to turn enterprise AI into secure, scalable solutions that accelerate how life-changing medicines are discovered, developed, and delivered to patients? In this role, you will engineer practical GenAI capabilities that integrate seamlessly with the Microsoft Power Platform, enabling our colleagues to automate complex processes, make faster decisions, and unlock new insights.
You will build production-grade APIs and Python orchestration that bring services like Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and Google Vertex AI into day-to-day workflows across the business. Do you thrive at the intersection of cloud AI services and low-code platforms, translating complex needs into reliable products used by thousands? Backed by strong investment and a collaborative, experimentation-first culture, you will shape the way our teams use data and AI at scale.
Accountabilities:
- GenAI Solution Architecture: Design end-to-end AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI to address high-value use cases across research, operations, and customer engagement, with clear measures of impact.
- Power Platform Integration: Embed AI into PowerApps and Power Automate flows to streamline decision-making and automate multi-step processes, ensuring maintainability, governance, and effective use of Dataverse and Microsoft 365 ecosystems.
- Backend Orchestration in Python: Build robust orchestration layers and reusable libraries that manage prompts, retrieval, evaluation, guardrails, and fallbacks; instrument services for observability, reliability, and performance.
- API Engineering and Integration: Expose AI models as secure, scalable REST APIs and integrate with enterprise systems via connectors, events, and queues to deliver dependable, measurable outcomes.
- Security, Compliance, and Cost Stewardship: Apply enterprise security and Responsible AI practices, optimize performance and cost, and ensure solutions meet production SLAs in a regulated environment.
- Delivery and Collaborator Partnership: Partner with product owners and domain experts to shape requirements, prioritize roadmaps, and deliver increments that scale from pilot to global adoption.
- Scaling and Operations: Establish CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, and model lifecycle management to support continuous improvement and resilience in production.
- Thought Leadership and Upskilling: Track advances in GenAI, NLP, and cloud AI; lead demos and collaborative sessions; mentor engineers and citizen developers to raise capability across the organization.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, or Google Vertex AI.

- Expose AI models as REST APIs or integrate them into enterprise systems.
- Incorporate AI services into PowerApps or Power Automate flows.
- Work with collaborators to identify business requirements and deliver scalable AI-based solutions.
- Ensure solutions meet standards for security, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
- Keep up to date with advancements in GenAI, NLP, and cloud-based AI technologies.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Power Platform governance, ALM, and Dataverse, including solution packaging and environment strategies.
- Practical knowledge of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and vector databases.
- Experience implementing CI/CD for Power Platform and Python services using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with Azure API Management and event-driven architectures (Event Hubs, Service Bus, Kafka).
- Observability in production using tools such as Application Insights, OpenTelemetry, CloudWatch, or Stackdriver, including guardrail and drift monitoring for AI services.
- Containerization and serverless compute (Docker, Kubernetes, Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, or Cloud Run).
- Understanding of data privacy, security, and responsible AI practices in regulated environments, ideally healthcare or life sciences.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex AI concepts for non-technical partners and drive adoption.
