Job Description
Aspen View Public Schools, with a division office located in the town of Athabasca, is a rural school division providing diverse and innovative programming to students in a number of communities. The division is unique in that it is surrounded by a multitude of lakes, golf courses and trails that appeal to an active, outdoor lifestyle while still being in close proximity to larger urban centers.
Smith School is a K–9 school located in the hamlet of Smith within the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River. Serving approximately 40 students, the school offers a close-knit, inclusive environment where every student is known, supported, and encouraged to grow. Students moving into high school have access to Aspen View Public Schools’ Centre for Alternative & Virtual Education for additional course options.
Smith School emphasizes leadership, confidence, and personal responsibility, grounded in the belief that all students can be leaders at every age. Students in Grades 6–9 access a range of options — including band, art, foods, technology and coding, and woodworking — and can participate in clubs and school roles that promote engagement and skill development.
The school also maintains a vibrant athletics program, offering archery, cross-country running, track and field, and junior high basketball, volleyball, and badminton. Wellness and family involvement are central to the school’s culture, reflected in strong volunteer support, Parent Council engagement, and community-based programs.
