Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Intrusion Detection Systems Technician to support the installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of intrusion detection and related electronic security systems at an onsite government installation. This role helps ensure the reliability and effectiveness of physical security infrastructure, including alarm systems, sensors, access control components, and related monitoring equipment, in a highly regulated and secure environment.
Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair intrusion detection systems, alarm panels, sensors, door contacts, motion detectors, control devices, and related electronic security equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on intrusion detection and associated security systems to ensure reliable operation and minimal downtime.
- Test and verify system functionality, alarm conditions, communication paths, and device performance in accordance with site procedures and applicable standards.
- Diagnose equipment failures, wiring issues, device malfunctions, and control panel problems, and complete required repairs or replacements.
- Support maintenance and basic servicing of related security infrastructure, including access control components, monitoring equipment, cameras, and low-voltage security devices as applicable.
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and technical instructions to complete installations and repairs accurately.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, service documentation, testing logs, and maintenance reports.
- Follow all applicable safety, security, and site access procedures while working in controlled or restricted areas.
- Coordinate with facility operations, security personnel, and maintenance teams to support site requirements and resolve system issues in a timely manner.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in intrusion detection systems, electronic security systems, alarm systems, low-voltage systems, or a closely related field.
- Applicable certifications or licenses in the respective field or line of work.
- Working knowledge of intrusion detection systems, access control devices, alarm panels, sensors, low-voltage wiring, and associated monitoring equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, blueprints, and system documentation.
- Experience performing installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic security systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-security, industrial, or secure environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including use of ladders, tools, and work in mechanical, utility, or restricted-access spaces as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Army, DoD, industrial, or other secure government facilities.
- Familiarity with integrated security systems that may include intrusion detection, access control, CCTV, and alarm monitoring equipment.
- OSHA, low-voltage, electronic security, or manufacturer-specific certifications related to IDS or integrated security systems.
- Experience working in environments with strict access, documentation, and compliance requirements.
