Job Title: Data / Orchestration Developer (MS SQL Server, VB.NET)

Location: Mississauga, ON – 1 Robert Speck Parkway, Suite 400

Work Model: Hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Data / Orchestration Developer with strong experience in MS SQL Server and VB.NET to design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and orchestration workflows. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SQL development, data transformation, and scripting, along with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional and offshore teams.

This role requires strong analytical capabilities, experience working with various data formats, and hands-on knowledge of data orchestration and integration tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for data pipeline development.
• Design and develop data processing templates for file pre-processing, parsing, and transformation.
• Develop and maintain SQL-based data solutions including stored procedures, functions, and database objects.
• Implement and maintain data orchestration workflows using tools such as SSIS or DTS.
• Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Conduct unit testing, support integration testing, and assist QA teams during validation phases.
• Troubleshoot and debug end-to-end application workflows, performing root cause analysis for production issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate components and ensure smooth end-to-end data flow.
• Provide accurate time, resource, and dependency estimates for development tasks.
• Work closely with offshore teams, participate in daily sync meetings, and help resolve technical issues.
• Mentor and support junior developers and trainees.
• Contribute to solution architecture, development standards, and best practices for client implementations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in data development or related roles.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and related tools.
• Advanced knowledge of RDBMS concepts and SQL programming.
• Extensive experience with Stored Procedures, Functions, and SQL performance tuning.
• Hands-on experience with SSIS or DTS.
• Proficiency in VB.NET scripting with knowledge of advanced programming concepts.
• Experience working with multiple data formats, including XML, CSV, fixed-length, and delimited files.
• Working knowledge of GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, and artifact repositories.
• Strong understanding of data sorting, bundling, and aggregation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in Banking or Financial Services domain.
• Familiarity with document composition and print workflows.
• Understanding of output file formats and print formats such as PDF and AFP.
• Knowledge of Java 8 and .NET Framework.
• Experience with data orchestration tools.
• Experience with application deployment, performance tuning, and scripting for automation.
• Knowledge of banking document processing lifecycle.
• Familiarity with financial documents such as statements, Canadian taxes, and cheque processing.
• Prior experience working with distributed or offshore teams.
