Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Gallery Associate located in Mumbai. The Gallery Associate will oversee daily gallery operations, including managing exhibitions, assisting with sales transactions, and supporting client relations. The role involves coordinating events, liaising with artists, monitoring inventory, and ensuring the gallery space remains presentable. Additionally, the Gallery Associate will assist with visitor engagement and provide thorough insights into artistic exhibits and exhibitions. Administrative tasks and fostering customer relationships also play a central role in this position.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, with a focus on engaging with clients and delivering excellent customer service
• Experience or background in gallery management and knowledge of art gallery operations
• Understanding of art history and contemporary art practices, with an ability to provide insights into exhibitions
• Proficiency or interest in sales, with the ability to handle transactions and build relationships with buyers
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities
• Enthusiasm for promoting and supporting diverse artistic practices and cultural discourse
• Bachelor’s degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field is preferred
• Prior experience in the arts, cultural management, or a similar role is advantageous

• Experience with CRM systems, inventory tools, or gallery management software (Artlogic or similar is a plus)
• Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
• Genuine interest in contemporary art and the wider cultural landscape
• Full professional proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage
