Project / Requirement Overview

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to build and manage scalable, cloud-native data platforms on GCP. The role focuses on platform engineering, governance, automation, and secure data access.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Engineering:

• Design and develop cloud-native platform foundations on GCP
• Create reusable templates for data storage, access control, and environments
• Enable self-service onboarding for data teams

Identity & Access Management:

• Integrate Okta with GCP IAM and Snowflake
• Implement SSO, RBAC, and least privilege access
• Automate user provisioning and lifecycle management

Governance & Security:

• Implement PII tagging, masking, and column-level security
• Work with BigQuery policy tags and Snowflake tagging
• Ensure compliance, governance, and auditability

Automation:

• Automate provisioning, access control, and metadata management
• Utilize Terraform, Python, SQL, and CI/CD pipelines

Observability:

• Monitor platform usage, access, and data quality
• Build alerting, logging, and audit mechanisms

Required Skills

• GCP (BigQuery, GCS, IAM)
• Snowflake (RBAC, governance, performance tuning)
• BigQuery (policy tags, partitioning, external tables)
• Okta (SSO, federation, lifecycle management)
• Python, SQL, Terraform
• CI/CD tools (Bitbucket preferred)

Good to Have

• Apache Iceberg / BigLake
• Cross-platform data sharing (Snowflake ↔ BigQuery)
• Data observability tools
• Metadata management systems

Experience

• 8+ years in platform or data engineering
• 3+ years in cloud-based data platforms
• Experience working in enterprise-scale environments
