Windows Server Administrator (Mid Level Contractor)
Role Summary
The Windows Server Administrator supports day-to-day operations of the Windows infrastructure environment, with a focus on ticket ownership, identity and access management, end-user escalations, and assisting with Windows Server builds and maintenance. This role works closely with senior administrators and provides hands-on operational support across core Microsoft platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and manage the Windows operations ticket queue end-to-end, including prioritization, troubleshooting, and resolution
- Provide 3rd-level escalation support for end-user issues related to:
- Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
- Identity and access
- Remote access technologies (VDI, Citrix)
- Perform user account provisioning and deprovisioning in Active Directory
- Assist with Windows Server builds, provisioning, and routine administration tasks
- Use and make minor edits to existing automation scripts; perform manual intervention and reconciliation when needed
- Communicate ticket status, risks, and issues clearly to the Windows team
- Support additional Windows administration tasks as assigned
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and basic Exchange/Microsoft 365 administration
- Experience owning and managing tickets in an ITSM system
- Familiarity with remote access technologies (VDI, Citrix)
- Ability to work independently while following established processes
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
