Job Description
- Prepare and cook authentic South Indian dishes such as idli, dosa, sambar, rasam, upma, and other regional specialties.
- Plan and design nutritious, well-balanced menus tailored to the dietary requirements of elderly residents, including vegetarian and low-spice options.
- Ensure dietary restrictions and special needs (diabetes-friendly, low-sodium, soft diets, etc.) are met.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety, following care home and health department guidelines.
- Monitor stock levels and manage kitchen inventory, ensuring fresh and high-quality ingredients are used.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a South Indian Chef, preferably in a care home, hospital, or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian cuisine and cooking techniques.
- Understanding of elderly nutrition and dietary requirements.
- Food safety and hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain one).
