About The Role

A growing digital platform team is looking for an experienced backend engineer to help design and build the foundational services that power modern, cloud-based applications. This is not a narrowly scoped ticket execution role. It is an opportunity to take meaningful ownership of core systems that other teams depend on every day.

You will work on distributed services, APIs, authentication flows, and data systems that form the backbone of scalable products. The team values engineers who can operate independently, engage thoughtfully with architects and senior peers, and move initiatives forward without constant direction.

What You Will Work On

• Designing and implementing backend services that support high availability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
• Building and evolving APIs used across multiple internal and external applications.
• Contributing to cloud-native architectures deployed in modern cloud environments.
• Collaborating with architects and senior engineers to translate system designs into robust, production-ready code.
• Improving reliability, observability, and performance of core platform services.
• Participating in architectural discussions and influencing technical direction.

Technical Environment

The primary development language for this team is Go. Strong experience in other backend languages such as Java or .NET is welcome, with the expectation that you are willing to ramp up in Go if needed.

The platform operates in cloud environments, with Azure and Google Cloud commonly used. AWS experience is also relevant. Data is frequently stored in PostgreSQL, and authentication and authorization flows rely on OAuth 2.0 principles.

While familiarity with these tools and technologies is valuable, the team prioritizes engineering fundamentals and problem-solving ability over exact stack alignment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience building backend or cloud-based systems.
• Proven ability to design and implement production-grade services.
• Comfort engaging directly with senior engineers and architects in technical discussions.
• Demonstrated ownership of features or systems from concept through deployment.

Preferred Experience

• Professional experience with Go, or strong experience in Java, .NET, or comparable backend languages.
• Hands-on experience deploying applications in Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Understanding of OAuth 2.0 concepts and modern authentication patterns.
• Experience working in distributed systems or service-oriented architectures.
